In the second part we’re going to be asking, ‘How can I connect with God?‘
Many of us have grown up with pictures of God as a bearded old man, who looks down from Heaven, far away from us! But the Bible is full of the message that God wants to be near to us, to connect with us and have a relationship with us, like a parent with their child.
What does it mean to connect with God? Abby is going to talk about that in the following video.
Jesus’ death on the cross means that you can connect with him personally.
Questions to talk about in your group
What’s your experience of connecting with God so far?
How could you change the way you pray, worship, or read the Bible so that you can get to know God better?
Is there anything about Jesus’ death and return to life that seems confusing?
‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’ John 3:16
Connecting with God – let’s put it into practice!
Listen to this worship song, In Christ Alone. Ask God to connect with you and show you something new about him through it.
Questions to think about on your own. You might like to write down your thoughts.
What are some of the things you most want in a friendship? How does this compare with your friendship with God?
Do you need to change the way you view God? For example, you might picture him as distant, or angry, or not interested in you. What difference does it make to know that he wants a friendship with you?
