Part seven: How do I share this?

For some, this new life in Christ is too exciting to keep to themselves: they just can’t help talking about it with everyone they meet. For others, talking about faith is something they’re not used to and it feels a bit awkward. However you feel about sharing your faith with others, you’ll find that a really natural way to have these conversations is to tell your own story. No complicated theology, no telling the other person what to do, just you sharing briefly about something that’s happened to you and the difference it’s made. After all, it’s your story, so you’re the expert on it!

Rich is a pro at telling his story in a way that grabs people’s attention, so he’s going to tell you how you can become brilliant at this too!

What’s your immediate response to the idea of sharing your story?

Has someone ever shared a story of faith that you found really memorable? What was so interesting about their story?

Have you ever shared your story with others? How did it go?

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15

Telling your story

Have a think about the three questions Rich discussed in the video.

  1. What was your life like before Jesus?
  2. What happened? (Did any key event spark your interest in God, or change what you believed about him? How did you reach a point of inviting Jesus into your life?)
  3. How has life been different since then?

Congratulations, you’ve just written your story of faith! It’s as simple as answering those three questions. Remember the three top tips: keep it brief, keep it conversational, keep it honest.

Respond

Pray this week and ask God to give you an opportunity to tell your story.
